The Ohio Supreme Court held that evidence obtained as the result of a confession obtained without Miranda warnings was inadmissable, despite the fact that the police subsequently Mirandized the defendant and he confessed again. The Ohio Constitution mandated this result, where the U.S. Constitution did not. Additionally, the faint smell of marijuana in the passenger compartment of the car did not warrant a search of the trunk.
