Two former employees at the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections who were convicted and sentenced earlier this year for tampering with a ballot recount in the 2004 presidential election have won a new trial. On Monday, August 6, 2007, Judge Shirley Stickland Saffold ruled that Judge Peter Corrigan had a conflict of interest when he presided over the trial of Jacqueline Maiden, former BOE Coordinator, and Kathleen Dreamer, a former assistant manager in the BOE's ballot department.
