Ohio Jurisprudence and ALR's Are Back on Lexis

If you have not already noticed, Ohio Jurisprudence and most of the American Law Reports (ALR2nd through 6th and ALR Fed through ALR Fed 2nd) are back on Lexis. This is great news for Lexis subscribers, who missed having these resources online last year. If you add them to your Lexis plan, you can search these sources full-text, through the use of segment searching, using the browse function, or by searching their tables of contents. Both of these sources are a great place to find detailed content about legal issues, together with annotations to relevant cases, statutes, and law review articles.

Try Out the New Legal Search Engine from Lexis

LexisNexis has launched a beta version of a brand new legal search engine called LexisWeb. This website claims to search thousands of websites and millions of web pages, including government agency sites, legal blogs, and web pages with legal information. Searching is easy-just type in your key terms without any quotation marks. Results will include sources available on the Internet and recommended sources available through lexis.com. Free web resources have been culled by LexisNexis editors, who have weeded out irrelevant sites to save searchers time. Advanced search techniques allow searchers to: refine their searches by adding more keywords; filter, cluster or navigate through results; or jump to lexis.com to sign in and retrieve password protected documents.

Ohio Supreme Court Changed its Web Address

Yesterday, the Ohio Supreme Court unveiled its new website with a slightly different web address (or URL). This means that everyone will have to update bookmarks to the new address, which is: http://www.supremecourt.ohio.gov/. The Ohio Supreme Court's Press Release indicates that the website changes were made so that the Court can better use technology to "educate, engage and inform the public about the Ohio Judicial System." The Press Release also indicates that Court email addresses are changing too and that oral arguments can be downloaded through iTunes.
