According to a news release, the Ohio Supreme Court has just amended Rule I of its Rules for the Government of the Bar to allow Ohio law schools, colleges and universities to create 3+3 programs that combine college and law school into six-year joint bachelor’s/law degree program. Although no schools in Ohio currently offer this option, students who graduate from 3+3 programs elsewhere have been able to seek a waiver of the customary Ohio requirement to complete 7 years of school through 4 years of college and 3 years of law school. The amendments to the Rule go into effect in just a few weeks on July 1st so there may be major changes on the horizon for this Fall.
