Sleep in a Library Book and Bed Hostel in Tokyo and Kyoto

In an amazing idea, a company in Japan has designed library sleeping nooks and merged them with library shelves into Book and Bed Hostels in Tokyo and Kyoto. Check out the photos of this interesting venture here.

Look for the Cleveland Public Library "Book Bike" This Summer

The Cleveland Public Library is adding to its community outreach efforts with a "Book Bike" this summer. According to Scene, the "Book Bike" will be a "traveling library, complete with a checkout station, WiFi access, and a display for informational materials." According to CPL, the "Book Bike" will allow patrons to "check out books, sign up for library cards, and look up books in the catalog." This Summer, the "Book Bike" will join Cleveland Public Library's Book Box at Wade Oval Wednesdays and make appearances at local festivals and parades. Thank You to Everyone Who Contributed to Our Book Drive with the Local Chapter of Federal Bar Association

We just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed to "A Book of Your Own," the book drive we helped the local chapter of the Federal Bar Association run. With the generous contributions of individuals and firms in town, we collected over 1,300 books for children in elementary schools in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The books were boxed up and delivered to the children in time for a summer of reading enjoyment. Thanks again! 

Ohio Supreme Court's Home Featured in a New Book about State Supreme Courts by National Center for Chief Justices and Conference of Chief Justices

The Ohio Supreme Court's home, in the Thomas J. Moyer Ohio Judicial Center, has been featured in a new book entitled State Supreme Courts. This book was was recently published as a collaboration between the National Center for State Courts and the Conference of Chief Justices. According to Court News Ohio, the book is a "pictorial tour of supreme courthouses and courtrooms across the country and nearby territories. State Supreme Courts is a book that focuses on the culture of the courts and the people they serve. The book profiles 56 jurisdictions, which showcases the buildings and the stories of the courts of last resort." Interestingly, the Ohio Judicial Center is also home to the Ohio Court of Claims and various state judicial offices. 

E-Book And P-Book Libraries Are Springing Up At Airports All Over The World

A great article from USA Today recently chronicled all of the latest efforts to make ebooks and print books available at airports all over the world. This phenomenon apparently started in 1962, when the Nashville Public Library opened a branch at the Nashville Airport. As of today, travelers can check out free ebooks at Florida's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, the Manhattan Regional Airport, the Philadelphia International Airport, the Harrisburg International Airport, the Cherry Capital Airport in Traverse City, Michigan, and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Print reading libraries are available at other locations, such as the San Francisco Airport Commission Aviation Library.

Hotel Libraries are the Latest Amenities for Guests

The New York Times reports that hotels all over the United States are adding libraries to their lobbies and bars. Designed as a means to generate revenue from patrons who spend more time in their restaurants and bars, hotels are stocking their shelves with hot titles from current authors. Some hotel libraries are even specializing, like the Renaissance hotel lobby in D.C., which boasts books about presidents and sports. (see picture in the article). As another example, the "Hyatt Magnificent Mile in Chicago completed a renovation that includes a bar stocked with books and magazines and a small number of computers." Some hotels are even creating lending libraries which allow guests to check out a book at one location and return it at another.

Cleveland Public Library Opens a BookBox at the Ohio City Market Square Park

Always on the cutting edge of library science, the Cleveland Public Library has launched another local initiative called the BookBox. Located in Ohio City across the Street from the West Side Market, the portable BookBox will allow Saturday morning patrons at the Market Square Park to check out books on "food, cooking, gardening, art, and urban agriculture." ABA Publishes New 50-State Survey of Legal Malpractice Law

The ABA has just published a new 50-state survey of legal malpractice law. According to the ABA, "This guide provides a state-by-state review of laws in each state pertaining to the laws of lawyer liability. Each chapter is devoted to the law of each state, written by lawyers in that particular state for easy comparison. Whether a lawyer is involved in litigating legal malpractice actions or merely wants to understand more about these matters, this book is intended to serve as a resource to how the law varies state by state."
